Microsoft has cut the price of its Xbox 360 console across the entire range.
From 14th March, the entry-level Xbox 360 Arcade will cost £159.99 (a £40 price cut), making it the cheapest next-gen console on the market - yep, even cheaper than the Wii, which is still selling for its launch price of around £180.
The Xbox 360 Premium package, which includes a 20GB hard disk and wireless controller, will drop to £199.99 (£50 less than before) while the top of the range Elite package with 120GB hard disk will sell for £259.99 (£40 cheaper). Of course, these are just estimated retail prices, so retailers are free to snip even further if they wish.
According to reports, Microsoft's console rivals Sony and Nintendo have reacted to the news by, well, doing nothing at all. Neither the PS3 nor the Wii is getting a price cut any time soon, say spokespeople from both firms.
