Teen killed by shark in Australia

(news.com.au) -- A 16-YEAR-old boy has died after being bitten by a shark on the New South Wales north coast.

An ambulance spokesman said the teenager was pulled from the water by lifesavers at North Wall beach near Ballina at about 8.30am (AEST) this morning, and it appeared that the boy bled to death.

“Lifesavers assisted him, but when paramedics arrived they found the boy deceased,” he said.

Duty officer for the Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life saving club Garry Meredith told NEWS.com.au that the teenager was body-boarding with a friend when the attack occurred. full story
