(telegraph) -- This dramatic photograph from a NASA orbiter shows what appear to be wind-swept sand dunes on the face of Mars.
The sculpted outcrops, so smooth and geometrically precise that they almost look designed by Martians, were spotted in the Hellespont region of the Red Planet.
Captured by the special High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) on the US space agency's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, the structures are believed to be sand blown by powerful winds blowing from east to west on the planet (right to left in the picture). full story
