Brazilian priest lost at sea

(reuters) -- Local authorities report a Brazilian priest trying to set a world record for the longest flight using party balloons is lost at sea.

Father Adelir Antonio de Carli began his flight hanging from one thousand helium-filled balloons in Parana, Brazil, on April 20.

In the air and by sea, rescue teams continued to search for the missing priest.

Father de Carli had embarked on his mission in an effort to draw attention to the work of his highway parish in the port town of Paranagua. His parish serves mostly truck drivers who transport goods to and from the port.
