Small headphones, BIG drivers

(gadgetshow.five.tv) -- Sony's new headphones sport a 16mm driver unit - the largest ever used in an in-ear design. So what does that mean? Well, according to Sony that gives the MDR-EX700LP the "richest, most faithful" sound reproduction possible. The solid design, meanwhile, makes for minimised resonance and vibration, which means a cleaner sound, particularly at higher frequencies.

That's all well and good, but if the 'phones are about as comfortable to wear as a mug tree, who cares? Well, Sony has thought this through too: the supersized driver has been turned on its side to ensure minimum lughole-pokage, and with no fewer than seven sizes of soft silicone earbud caps are included, finding one for your particular earhole dimensions should be pretty easy.
