How to Solve the Svchost.exe 100% Cpu Utilization Problem

SVCHOST.EXE 100% CPU utilization is a bug that seems to affect more than a few Windows computer users, causing their computers to slow down significantly.
Microsoft says that this is a rare problem, however, judging by the number of forum posts about this problem, quite some people are affected by this.

Steps

  1. Click on Start->All Programs->Windows Update.
  2. In the Windows Update screen, click on "Change Settings" in the grey column (look on the left-hand side of the screen).
  3. Disable Microsoft Updates. You will see a warning message but you can ignore that.
  4. A wizard will guide you through the uninstall procedure.
  5. All set. You will be free from the svchost.exe 100% cpu utilization bug.

  • Try to refrain from completely disabling the update mechanism, because that will make your computer more vulnerable to internet threats
